Our BIG Questions
-
How did it all begin and how have we got here ?
-
Now that we are here, what are we to do ?
-
Why are we here at all and who are we ?
-
Where are we going ?
-
Why does the universe go to all the trouble it does to exist and ...
-
Why is there something rather than nothing; after all, the simplest reality of all would be for there to be nothing?
-
What is the true nature of ultimate reality?

Mankind’s answers to these questions are at present to be found in the two following belief systems, which in their simplest forms can be crystallized as:-
-
Atheism – A belief in ‘Neo-Darwinian, materialistic, reductionist atheism’
-
Theism -- The belief in the existence of a God (an ultimate conscious intelligence) based upon natural reason and/or special revelation.

In the on going debate on the question of ‘God’ between Theists and Atheists, the ‘first cause argument’ plays a central and pivotal role. Theists say that God was responsible for the first cause that brought the universe and life into existence, whereas Atheists claim either that there was no first cause, that the universe just popped into existence from nothing, or that the universe is eternal, thereby not requiring a first cause.

The question begs... which of these two answers now in the 21st century give us the best inference?
